Mosquito Bites Home Remedies

Calm the itch, the natural way.

Why do Mosquitos Bite?

Ever wonder why mosquitoes seem to treat you like an all-you-can-eat buffet? It’s not personal - they’re just hungry.

Female mosquitoes need the protein in your blood to make eggs, so while you're out enjoying summer, they’re out looking for their next meal. They’re drawn to your body heat, your breath (carbon dioxide), and even your sweat.

If you do get bitten, there are plenty of natural ways to soothe the itch and calm your skin.

How to use home remedies to treat Mosquito Bites?

  • Apple Cider Vinegar: Apply directly to the bite to help relieve itching and reduce inflammation.

  • Aloe Vera: A go-to for skin issues, aloe soothes itchiness and helps reduce swelling. Fresh from the plant is best, but natural store-bought gel works too.

  • Toothpaste: Dab a small amount on the bite to cool the skin and reduce irritation.

  • Baking Soda: Mix with a little water to create a paste, then apply on the bite to relieve itching.

  • Ice: Wrap in a clean cloth and apply to the area. The cold helps numb the itch and reduce swelling.

  • Fresh Cucumber: Cut into small pieces and rub the juicy side on the bite. It’s cooling and can help calm irritated skin.

  • Honey: Dab a small amount on the bite. Its antibacterial and anti-inflammatory properties help reduce itching and prevent infection.
