Home Remedies for Eye Infection

Gentle Relief for Irritated Eyes.

What is Eye Infection?

An eye infection happens when bacteria, viruses, or irritants cause redness, swelling, discomfort, or discharge in or around the eye.

While many infections are mild and resolve on their own, gentle care, like using a warm compress, can help ease pain and irritation and support the healing process naturally.

How to use home remedies to treat Eye Infection?

  • Tea Compress: Brew a mild tea (like chamomile or green tea), dip cotton wool into the warm tea, squeeze out the excess, and gently place it on the closed eye. Repeat as needed to help soothe irritation and reduce inflammation.

  • Cold Water Wash: Rinse your eyes with clean, cold water to refresh the area and help flush out irritants. Keeping the eye area clean is key to preventing further infection.

  • Cucumber Slices: Place chilled cucumber slices on your closed eyes for a few minutes to help reduce swelling and ease discomfort.

  • Carrots: Add fresh carrots to your diet to support overall eye health.

  • Tomatoes: Eating tomatoes regularly provides antioxidants, which help protect your eyes and may reduce the risk of infections.

  • Warm Compress: Applying a warm, damp cloth to your closed eyes for a few minutes can help soothe irritation and reduce swelling. It’s a simple and effective way to ease discomfort.
