Home Remedies for Hemorrhoids

Soothe Naturally, Heal Comfortably.

What are Hemorrhoids?

Hemorrhoids are swollen or inflamed veins in the lower rectum or anus, often caused by straining or pushing too hard during bowel movements, prolonged sitting, pregnancy, or childbirth. Hemorrhoids can lead to discomfort, itching, pain, and sometimes bleeding.

Though they can be irritating and even painful, hemorrhoids are a common condition and usually not serious.

Many people find relief at home with natural remedies like warm baths, cold compresses, soothing creams, and a fiber-rich diet to ease symptoms and support healing.

How to use home remedies to treat Hemorrhoids?

  • Olive oil: Swallow one teaspoon every morning on an empty stomach.

  • Prune water: Soak prunes in boiling water overnight. Drink the water in the morning on an empty stomach, and you can also eat the prunes. Prunes act as a natural laxative.

  • Cranberry juice: Drink daily to reduce inflammation.

  • Add fiber to your diet: Include whole grains, fruits, vegetables, and legumes to soften stools and prevent worsening hemorrhoids.

  • Garlic: Grate garlic and apply it directly to the hemorrhoids. Be cautious as it can sting or irritate sensitive skin.

  • Onion and honey: Cut onion into small pieces, mix with honey, and apply the mixture on the hemorrhoids.

  • Apple cider vinegar: Dab diluted apple cider vinegar with cotton wool and apply to the painful area. Avoid using on broken or raw skin as it may burn.

  • Cold water: Dab cotton wool soaked in cold water on the affected area to ease itchiness and reduce swelling.

  • Warm bath with salt: Take a warm bath with Epsom or sea salt for 15 to 20 minutes to relax and relieve pain and swelling.

  • Avoid straining: Take your time on the toilet and lean forward with elbows on your knees to ease bowel movements and reduce pressure on hemorrhoids.
